How Flirty Is This? Check a Text Before You Send It

Paste a message you’re thinking of sending. Tell us where you are with this person and how flirty you want to be. You’ll get an honest read on the vibe, what works, what could be better — and one rewrite.

How this flirty text checker works

Whether a message sounds flirty is not really about the words on their own. “How was your day?” is perfectly friendly from a coworker and a little flat from someone you’ve been on three dates with. So the check looks at your draft through three questions at once: how specific is it, how playful is it, and how much interest does it show compared with the stage you’re in.

The stage matters most. The same sentence can be charming at one stage and too much at another, which is why the tool asks where you are with this person before it says anything. Then it compares the vibe of your draft with the vibe you told it you want — subtle, playful or clearly interested — and suggests one rewrite that closes the gap without losing your voice.

A good rewrite rarely means adding emojis. It usually means adding a detail only this person would recognize, turning a flat question into a small playful one, or saying the interested part out loud instead of hinting at it. For a deeper walkthrough of that process, see how to make a text flirty step by step.

What each result means

ResultWhat it usually meansWhat to consider
Too FriendlyPolite and safe, but it could be sent to anyoneAdd one specific detail or a playful twist
A Little FlirtyWarmer than friendly, easy to returnGreat early on; add clarity later if you want interest to register
PlayfulFun energy, some teasing or a gamePair it with something more sincere when the moment is right
Clearly InterestedNo guessing needed about your intentMake sure it matches the energy they’ve been showing
Too Strong for This StageMore intensity than this stage usually supportsTake it down a notch and let interest build on both sides

Is this text too strong? Why there’s no flirty score

You won’t see “87% flirty” here, and that’s deliberate. A percentage would pretend to measure something that can’t be measured: how a real person, in a real mood, with their own history, will feel reading your message. Any tool that gives you a precise number is guessing and hiding the guess. Qualitative labels are more honest, and more useful, because they point to what to change.

The same honesty applies to the other person. No message, however well written, can make someone interested. What a better message can do is make your interest clear, make replying easy and fun, and give you a cleaner read on whether the interest is mutual. After you send it, watch what comes back — our guide to telling whether flirting is reciprocated explains what to look for.

The same message at three different stages

Here’s how the right level of flirty changes as you get to know someone.

Just met

“Did today treat you well?”

Texting regularly

“Rate your day from 1 to ‘I definitely deserve dessert.’”

Mutual interest

“How was your day? And yes, I’m asking because I wanted an excuse to talk to you.”

Why: each version asks the same question, but the amount of open interest grows with the stage. The third message would be a lot from a stranger — and lovely from someone who already likes you back.

What the tool won’t help with

How Flirty Is This? exists to help you express interest well. It will not optimize messages that pressure, guilt-trip, threaten, harass, push for sexual content, or try to change someone’s mind after they’ve said no. If a draft looks like any of those, you’ll get a respectful alternative instead — often a graceful way to back off. Better Flirting is for adults only, and the tool won’t help with anything involving someone under 18.

If you’re not sure whether a situation calls for flirting at all, our guides on knowing whether flirting is welcome and whether you might be coming on too strong are good places to start.

Your message stays private

  • Your text is sent securely in the body of one request, analyzed, and discarded.
  • It is never stored in a database, saved in your browser, or written into a web address.
  • It is never included in analytics — we only count that a check happened, not what it said.
  • Results appear on this page only. There are no shareable or public result pages.

To produce the analysis, the text is processed by our AI provider under their API terms. The full details are in our privacy policy. Please don’t paste anyone else’s personal details, like phone numbers or addresses.

From one check to real practice

One message at a time is a good start. But most people get better at flirting by practicing the pattern, not by fixing single texts forever. Flirt Blueprint™ is built for that: a short flirting profile that shows your most common blocker, Make This Flirty with three versions of every message, Flirt or Too Much? for checking lines against your stage, teasing and compliment builders, texting and real-world scenario trainers, and a 7-day practice plan. It’s $7, one time, with no subscription.

Frequently asked questions

Is this text flirty or just friendly?

It depends on specificity, playfulness and how much interest it shows compared with what you would send a friend. The tool reads those qualities against the stage you choose and tells you whether the message lands as too friendly, a little flirty, playful, clearly interested, or too strong for this stage.

Does my text sound too strong?

A message is usually too strong when its intensity is ahead of where you are with the person: big declarations with someone you just met, or sexual content before interest is clearly mutual. Pick your real stage in the tool and it will say so, with a lighter version.

Why doesn’t the tool give a flirty percentage?

Because a percentage would pretend to measure something that cannot be measured. Whether a message works depends on context, tone and the person reading it. Qualitative labels are more honest and more useful.

Is my message stored or shared?

No. Your message is sent securely for a single analysis, processed in memory and discarded. It is never saved to a database, placed in a URL, added to analytics or shown on a public page.

Can it analyze a message someone sent me?

It is designed for messages you are thinking of sending. Reading someone else’s texts for hidden meaning tends to create false certainty; for that question, our guide to signs someone is flirting over text looks at patterns rather than single messages.

How many checks can I do for free?

You can use the free check a number of times each hour. If you reach the limit, you still get a read from our simpler built-in checker. Flirt Blueprint includes the full toolkit, with three rewrites per message and a line checker.
